Mr. Waller began his career with Smith, Gambrell and Russell in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1975 in defense oriented litigation. Mr. Waller's practice at that time included representation of architects, engineers and other design professionals in construction litigation and accountants in errors and omission matters. Mr. Waller represented insurance carriers in bad faith and insurance coverage matters and defended insureds in individual and class action matters. He also represented corporate defendants in numerous commercial litigation matters. In 1980, Mr. Waller joined the Birmingham, Alabama firm Haskell, Slaughter, Young & Rediker. His practice focused on the same general areas as at the Smith, Gambrell and Russell firm with the addition of Title VII and other employment related matters as well as increased involvement with class action cases. In 1984, Mr. Waller took a leave of absence to serve as an attorney to Commissioner Terry Calvani of the Federal Trade Commission. Mr. Calvani previously had been of counsel with the Haskell, Slaughter firm. Mr. Waller participated in both the consumer and antitrust areas at the Commission. Mr. Waller returned to Haskell, Slaughter in 1985. In 1996, Mr. Waller was the co-founder of the 15 attorney litigation firm of Campbell and Waller in Birmingham, Alabama. At that firm, he continued to practice in the area of business tort, complex civil litigation and class action matters. Mr. Waller's class action experience includes insurance, product liability, medical device, pharmaceutical, deceptive trade practice,and other commercial matters. At Campbell and Waller, Mr. Waller established a joint venture office between the Campbell firm and a California law firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. Through that office, with co-counsel, Mr. Waller represented a major utility in claims arising out of the Western energy crisis. Mr. Waller has tried a wide variety of cases representing plaintiffs and defendants in contractual, business tort and other commercial matters, as well as various claims involving the insurance industry. Ms. Slaughter has longstanding and varied experience in complex commercial litigation, including the injury, class actions, physician buyout disputes, business torts, Uniform Commercial Code and breach of warranty matters. She also has represented waste management companies and landfill owners and operators with regard to environmental regulatory and litigation matters, and has experience defending architects, engineers, design-builders, developers, home inspectors and general contractors.
